gn win: Automatically find location of Visual Studio

Previously, a vcvarsall or equivalent command was required to have been
run before GN, and the build files did not attempt to locate the Visual
Studio installation. Additionally, the tools in the PATH were assumed to
be compatible with the setting of target_cpu as given to GN, and the
build would confusingly error out otherwise.

Now, at GN-time, the location of the VS2015 install is found, the
required environment extracted from vcvarsall and saved, and this
environment is used when invoking the compiler, linker, and assembler.
Unfortunately this requires a bunch of goop in win_helper.py (mostly
from old Chromium).

Currently, the x64 toolchain is always used. In a follow up change, the
toolchain definition should be templated and the correct one chosen
based on the value of target_cpu.

Bug: crashpad:79
Change-Id: Id6150f3a80b9f26154b30312605989b89e479313
Reviewed-on: https://chromium-review.googlesource.com/905572
Reviewed-by: Mark Mentovai <mark@chromium.org>

gn: Don’t use .rsp files; rationalize descriptions and output dirs

.rsp files were omitted from the Windows build (where they’re probably
more likely to be useful) for simplicity, since mini_chromium and
Crashpad shouldn’t need them. They were left in place for link steps on
other platforms, though. This removes the use of .rsp files, which
should make it easier to debug the build.

Some of the tool descriptions were a little wacky. Some were just plain
wrong, and others were just a little wrong. Rather than trying to match
Chromium step-for-step, this standardizes on a set of meaningful and
recognizable names not likely to be confused for anything else: CC, CXX,
OBJC, OBJCXX, ASM, AR, SOLINK_MODULE, LINK, STAMP, and COPY.

Output directories are also handled more consistently.

The Objective-C steps are defined on macOS only.

Bug: crashpad:79
Change-Id: I1160279f06ccbb663087be494795588f4a637843
Reviewed-on: https://chromium-review.googlesource.com/834228
Reviewed-by: Scott Graham <scottmg@chromium.org>

gn, mac: Honor mac_sdk_min, sysroot, and mac_deployment_target

This is bit more flexible (and probably straightforward) than how
Chromium deals with things. The SDK is selected based on the first
non-empty GN argument out of sysroot, mac_sdk, and mac_sdk_min.
Regardless of how the SDK is selected, if mac_sdk is non-empty, the SDK
must be that exact version, and if mac_sdk_min is non-empty, the SDK
must be at least that version. It’s possible for all three to be empty,
which will result in the system’s default SDK being chosen, without any
additional constraints. This is the current default.

Similarly, mac_deployment_target may be empty, which allows the
toolchain to choose the deployment target. The current default is to
explicitly specify 10.9 as the deployment target.

Unlike Chromium, this ought to work on systems with only the Command
Line Tools package installed, but no Xcode. Also unlike Chromium, no
provision has been made (yet?) for the hermetic tools package.

The sysroot logic for macOS and Fuchsia has been consolidated, although
there’s probably more room for improvement.

Bug: crashpad:79
Change-Id: I1df56921bd68934b6c4671707ca47842b58047fe
Reviewed-on: https://chromium-review.googlesource.com/830892
Reviewed-by: Robert Sesek <rsesek@chromium.org>
Reviewed-by: Scott Graham <scottmg@chromium.org>
"

A more targeted fix was discovered at
https://crrev.com/c/811204, which allows _FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64 to be
maintained in most places, disabling it only where necessary. It’s customary to set
_FILE_OFFSET_BITS to 64 to get a 64-bit off_t on these platforms, but
this was traditionally never effective in the Android NDK, so the macro
was being set without effect.
android: Recognize Bionic’s semantics for strerror_r()

In previous versions of POSIX, the claim goes, the specification of
strerror_r() was ambiguous, and it was unclear whether it returned an
error number on failure, or returned nonzero while setting errno to an
error number. The standard, if it ever was actually ambiguous on this
point, no longer is. The former behavior is required, but that doesn’t
change the fact that noncompliant libraries like Bionic continue to
implement the latter.

https://android.googlesource.com/platform/bionic/+/26bc9c64d5b0cad921e3070a4f94fa04e1077d90/libc/bionic/strerror_r.cpp#52

Adapt to Bionic’s quirk: recognize both failure mechanisms by treating
positive return values as error numbers, and negative return values as
failure with the error number in errno. Valid error numbers are always
positive, and Bionic returns -1 on failure.

Chromium has an unnecessarily complex way of achieving the same
behavior.

This does not affect the use of strerror_r() with glibc, which exposes
yet another distinct and nonstandard interface.

Bug: crashpad:30
Change-Id: I5c0fe5d7631d224a02d3d3d19457d953422945a8
Reviewed-on: https://chromium-review.googlesource.com/459138
Reviewed-by: Scott Graham <scottmg@chromium.org>

android: Support “unified headers” with GCC build

Previously, the __ANDROID_API__ macro was provided by
<android/api-level.h>. With unified headers (expected to become the
default in the next NDK release and the sole option in the subsequent
release), this macro is not set properly by headers.
